MEET THE CLERKS OF COURSE – COMP SAFARI
Simon Cooper and Peter Roberts are your Clerk’s of Course for the 2026 ALRC National Comp Safari at Green Hall Farm. Although they both now compete in non ALRC independent suspension motors, their roots are firmly planted within the Land Rover community having been members of Staffs & Shrops LRC since the late 1980’s.
Simon has recently retired from the position of Chairman, having committed some 30 odd years to the S&S committee, and remains a Motorsport UK National Car Scrutineer. Peter has been instrumental in pushing the limits of engineering in the off-road scene for many years, and some of his (and his twin brother Ian’s) comp safari cars are still about now in the ALRC.
As well as being a multiple championship winner, Peter was the overall winner of the National Comp Safari in 2002 and 2003, with Simon having taken many class wins, he also won the Yorkshire Cup for highest placed driver of a standard vehicle at the 2003 National (see pic of them in their younger days). They remain competitive to say the least, but most of all great friends.
S&S have been using Green Hall since 2019 for comp safaris, and the ground was showcased in 2021 in the Channel 4 series Guy’s Garage, when Guy Martin came and competed alongside them (episode 3 of the series is still available to watch via Sky or at u.co.uk). It is an epic ground, and they hope to see you there for what should be a great event.
