All CCV and Competitive Safari vehicles competing in ALRC events will need a Vehicle Log Book. This is to ensure that the build and sizes are consistent with the Rules and Regulations.
There are official Log Book Scrutineers in many member clubs around the UK. You can see the current list on the website under the Contacts menu. Booking vehicle inspections, renewing a log book, and changes of ownership of a vehicle are covered in the sections below.
The following links provide
ADMIN ONLY ACCESS to the relevant Log Book personnel
Index of Active Log Books
An index showing all of the Active Log Books is publicly available. This is so that an owner can show that a log book is current, when it was issued and what the vehicle looks like., and who owns it. No other personal details are shown.
This is very useful if you are selling a vehicle so that the potential new owner can see that it is active and that it complies with the regulations. It can also be used by Club Officials to check that a vehicle presented at an event has a valid log book.
Apply for a New Log Book
When an owner fills in a Log Book Application form, they select which scrutineer they would like to inspect their vehicle.
The form is simple to fill in and your entry, once the relevant fee is confirmed as paid, is emailed to the chosen scrutineers. This scrutineers will then contact you to arrange the first inspection.
This form can also be used to DIGITISE YOUR PAPER LOG BOOK at no cost.
Once the first inspection is successfully completed, the vehicle will be issued with a Pale Blue VEHICLE ID TAG which will be used to identify the vehicle in all of the ALRC records. There is also a space for the scrutineers to add any comments should they be relevant.
The scrutineers will then help the owner to arrange a 2nd inspection with a different scrutineer. All of the scrutineers details are available on the website.
After a successful 2nd inspection the log book scrutineers will issue a second tag, (YELLOW). This shows that the vehicle fully complies with the regulations and they will contact the Log Book Secretary who will issue the completed Log Book. You will receive this via eMail and it will be a PDF file. You will be able to print or download this for presentation at events when booking in. (Please allow a few days for processing before you receive your ACTIVE LOG BOOK).
Re-validate your Log Book (Every 5 Years)
You will need to renew your log book every 5 years. This is to ensure that it still meets the standards to comply with the ALRC regulations.
You must have a DIGITAL LOG BOOK already to be able to Renew.
Only one inspection is required for a renewal. You should select Log Book Renewal on the application form and fill in your existing details. Select the 1st scrutineer, who will contact you to arrange a renewal inspection. There is a fee associated with this renewal and this is detailed on the form.
Once the renewal inspection has been successfully completed, the Log Book Secretary will be informed and will check the details, add a new issue date, and send the updated ACTIVE LOG BOOK to the owner.
Lifetime Comments added to a Log Book
Throughout the life of the vehicle comments may be added to the Log Book by a scrutineer or relevant Club Official at an event. These comments need to be submitted on the COMMENTS FORM
This form is publicly available on the ALRC website but all comments need approval before being made live. This ensures that only relevant information is added to an owners Log Book. The approval is carried out by the Log Book Secretary.
If your log book has had comments added after it was issued then these will only show online. You will need to request a new copy of your log book for the comments to show on your copy.
Change of Owner or Personal Details
If you change your personal details, such as moving house, changing email or phone, or a change of name, then you can request an update, free of charge, by selecting the change of Details form. Fill in the relevant details and your request will be sent to the Log Book Secretary.
If you are the new owner of a vehicle WHICH ALREADY HAS A DIGITAL LOG BOOK, then you need to register as the New Owner. This can be done by selecting Log Book Change of Owner. Fill in the relevant details, pay the required fee and your request will be sent to the Log Book Secretary.
The Log Book Secretary will check the details, add the new information, and send the updated ACTIVE LOG BOOK to the owner. (Please allow a few days for processing before you receive updated ACTIVE LOG BOOK).
Request a Digital Copy of your Active Log Book
If you need to obtain a digital copy of your existing Active Log Book, you can request a copy. This is an automated process and is completed online.
You will receive an email to your eMail address as listed on the log book. This will give a link for you to download a PDF copy of your Log Book.
If you require further information or help with this process, then please contact the Log Book Secretary or any of the Scrutineers who will do their best to assist you. Details can be found on the Contacts page.
